Alternative medicine for artist's physical health!!
A lot of events happened to me in the last few months that has prompted me to write a brief post to help artists and maybe the general public with their health :) A lot of health problems can be prevented, so I wanted to write a few bits that are on my mind and hopefully be able to give some help to others. To keep it simple I’m going to list some alternative/complementary therapies that you can seek out other than ending up at the doctors and requiring costly surgery & rehab.
Hello~! I'm going on a trip soon and most certainly wanted to do some watercolour, however the Koi set is not available in my country (Australia) Do you know of any alternatives?
Hi! I would suggest you get a small pan and squeeze some tube colours in and let them dry!! If you dont hve a pan then if you can find a tin box to squeeze some colour in that is really good too! Tbh I dont use all the colours that comes in a travel set so I take out the cubes and squeeze my own colours in :) it’s pretty much all customized!!
Hi, i'm just a spanish guy who recently started to follow you on tumblr. Your drawings and sketches are awesome, i noticed your are really careful in the cleaning of your drawings, and i know it's not easy when you are working with watercolour. Do you use any software to clean your drawings?
Hi! Sorry this took a while. I wanted to screen cap the things I use. I use probably exclusively Photoshop for cleaning and editing. To be honest the most I have to do is adjust certain colours and contrasts because I draw clean enough (actually everything is just sketching to me).
Curves and Brightness & Contrast do almost the same thing, except in Curves you can select the channels you’re on (sometimes useful!). I also use some filters to help enhance the quality of scan. Hope that helps!
I’ve also received a lot of asks concerning my artist tools. They are mostly listed here. More posts about generally how I work is listed under “about”. Exception that I’ve added a dip pen (Maru- & G-pen) to my arsenal (which i am very much enjoying). I enjoy exploring different tools once in a while.
Thank you all so much for the follows, likes and messages and wonderful support<333 I’m overwhelmed by all your kindness and am honoured you like my art!!! thank you!!
hi! okay so I've been having a problem when I tried painting before and I wondered if you could help me- how do you keep your paper from wrinkling? (also I really like your style its cute and nice and wonderful)
Hi! Buckling is a problem when there’s too much water and the paper cannot handle it. Some people tape their paper down along all edges onto a board to minimize warping. I’ve also heard of people wetting, stretching and drying the paper; but for myself i find that taping it down does a good job! I also press it between two flat surfaces once I am done with the drawing!
Hope that helps! Thank you for liking my art!
*ETA check out the notes for additional comments :>
Another year has gone by so fast wahhh I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot of things, but they were definitely not art related. I feel like this year was a dip in my arting because of school and job. Nonetheless it has been a wonderful year and I have learned lots! Thank you for all your support, I really appreciate all the messages I have received and all the love <3 Thank you for the 5000+ followers!!! *-*///!!!!! I’ll continue to work hard and learn lots!!
Oh and I just finished scanning my completed sketchbook… it’s really not that impressive compared to the other ones? anyway I’m still gonna keep trying to draw better and better!
